Nevertheless, Mauritius doesn’t present any particular risk to human health if you follow these tips:
VACCINATION
There are no mandatory vaccinations for travellers to Mauritius, however, some are recommended:
- “Universal” vaccines: tetanus, polio, diphteria, pertusis, hepatitis A and B, typhoid
- The only mandatory vaccine is the yellow fever one in the case that you’ve stayed in an affected area during the preceding months. In that specific case, it is likely that a health agent request a certificate of health in order to enter Mauritius
HEALTH ONCE THERE
- It is not recommended to drink tap water. It is preferable to drink bottled water, or, in the case that it’s not possible, use tablets to filter water
- Avoid ice cubes and milk
- Use anti-mosquito products, preferably the ones conformable to the WHO (World Health Organisation)
- Protect your skin from the sun, above all during the Austral Summer
SAFETY
- Generally, Mauritius doesn’t present any particular danger. The authorities do all their possible to ensure the tourists and the inhabitants safety. Nevertheless, you have to keep in mind, as in the rest of the world, agressions and thefts cannot be ignored. You can be exposed to these risks, and to avoid it you have to be cautious.
